Trip Planner: South Pacific / Australia / Western Australia / Greater Perth / Fremantle / Fremantle Markets
Equally appealing to both tourists and locals, Fremantle Markets remains one of the finest shopping destinations in Western Australia. Bringing together over a century of history and heritage, the markets now host over 150 stalls run by craftspeople, vegetable growers, food producers, fashion designers, and merchants. Look for the fresh produce section to stock up on tasty treats and snacks, or head straight for the food court to have your fill of globally popular street specialties.Snoop around Fremantle Markets to buy indigenous souvenirs like boomerangs and didgeridoos. Explore the 150 vibrant shops and discover why the market was listed in the Register of Heritage Places. Built in 1897, the market is lined with small shops selling crafts in the indoor hall and fresh produce in outdoor yard. Walk past street performers and enter the market through the ornate stone arches. The rough washed limestone of the walls and the high iron roof add to the charm. A walk at the market is a good way to spend a rainy day since it is covered. Try the kangaroo jerky. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Fremantle holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Fremantle Markets and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.
Fremantle Markets reviews
The best donuts are here, not the usual commercial ones but the nice freshly done coated with sugar. Fresh produce is always nice, we don’t bother with the other side of the markets, which seems to... more »
Waste of money. I have a genuine medical condition and the woman in charge of the scan had to call an old friend for advice on what oil to give me lol. An absolute scam. more »
What a wonderful day! I haven't been to the markets for a while and was pleasantly surprised to see that there have been some huge improvements. As always the produce whas beautiful and fresh. There was a great choice of food vendors serving up some of the most delicious food I've had in a long while. And the stalls inside were bright and fresh with many new additions to compliment the old familiar regulars. Can't wait to go again!
Great stalls for crafts, clothing, household, fruit/veg and food. Quite reasonably priced. What lets it down is not enough places to sit and eat, and no air flow/conditioning so it's very hot on a 30+ degree day. Parking nearby is plentiful, but charged. Nice looking pub across the road.
