Located on the grounds of the majestic Schonbrunn Palace, Schönbrunn Zoo mixes rich history and the animal kingdom. Wander through this World Heritage Site for sightings of giant pandas, koalas, orangutans, tigers, penguins, and more. Visit the Amazon rainforest, or catch a polar bear feeding in the polarium. The zoo, the oldest in the world, opened in 1752 as a menagerie. Schönbrunn Zoo reviews
The most charming zoo in the word. It is beautiful with many different animals. Very clean and organised with clear marking on where to go. Although the areas dedicated to the animals are quite small.... more »
There is a lot of walking until reaching the zoo gate. So it’s better to ask people around you to ask. It’s worth to visit more »
This is one of the loveliest zoos I have ever been too. It’s a little pricey at €20. I visited at new year- it was very cold and covered in snow. But it was a lot less crowded too! The zoo is spread out over a vast area. It is beautifully planned. Multiple animals from all across the world. I was surprised to see sloths and koalas up close- as having been to Costa Rica and Australia - this zoo made it super easy to stare at them in close range. The zoo is a fun place- for all age groups. It would take a whole day to see everything if you end up watching all the animal meal time feeding sessions. Well worth a visit! just to seen penguins! I was so happy to see my first penguins :) thank you Vienna zoo!
I thought we'll spend no more than 2 hrs, first because it was a rainy winter and windy day thinking that the animals will be in their cages not being able to see them but... surprise! We spent about 5 hrs only in the zoo....and we could be there more time...it was great!!! 20€ worth it. I believe that in the summer can be a whole day of fun going around to see the gardens. The usual and general problem in Austria is the translation of signs and explanations for tourists, I used the Google translate. Disabled friendly, reachable toilets, tidy clean, feeding and shows with explanation - look for the timetables. Handicap friendly. Discounts. Take a map with you so you won't miss anything....great to all the family. If you don't want to spend much money, take snacks and drinking water or a bottle to fill. Enjoy!
