Sajama National Park, Oruro

#1 of 9 in Things to do in Oruro
Sajama National Park highlights the outback of Bolivia. Make the village your base camp, and go on a variety of adventures to discover indigenous plants, animals, natural formations, and ancient burial structures. The park was established to protect the Quenue trees, which are used to produce coal. Climb up the Nevado Sajama and reach the highest point of Bolivia, treat achy muscles to some relaxing warm water and the park’s hot springs, and hike around the park to see old ruined and abandoned churches and homes. • Beautiful place, among lagoons, thermal waters, volcanoes and free Andean fauna. Useful to have a 4x4 means to visit it. Council housing in the Community Hostal, so you can help the communities in the park economically.

  • The best place without many tourists, the high and mountain season starts in May, between March and April to enjoy the scenery and nature.
