  • The Palace of Potala is undoubtedly the main attraction of Lhasa. Most tourists go there during the day. At the same time, the visit time is strictly limited to 50 minutes from the moment of entry to the exit (there are electric turnstiles). The palace is not in our usual sense. Rather, it is the spiritual and cultural center of Tibet. Inside everything is very interesting, but it is better to get detailed information on Wikipedia. But what I would like to recommend is to go to the palace square in the evening. Lights and light-musical fountains are included. The spectacle is amazing. The entrance to the area through metal detectors with control of hand luggage on X-ray (it should be taken into account that do not have to throw away contents, such as lighters).

  • A visit to Potala Palace is a must-do while in Lhasa. The walk up to the top and back is about 700 steps (someone counted) and can be strenuous. Try to take your time, but it's hard not to get rushed ...  more »

  • This place is really cool. No trip to Tibet would be complete without a visit. I spent an entire day walking around it, photographing it during the day and night. And another morning visiting the inside with my guided tour. It's best if your tour group can get there as early as possible. We were literally the first group in the door, and were able to see the palace and get a bunch of pictures with no crowds.
  • A must see sightseeing when in Lhasa Tibet. Everything is real, you can feel that you can touch the history when you come inside. When enter the main palace, time is limited at 1 hour so it is recommended to go fast and all questions can leave behind. Some restrictions to remember: no water, passport needed, ticket (of course), no photos, AM visiting is better than afternoon time.
