Las Piscinas de la Virgen, Montalvo

#5 of 7 in Nature in Tungurahua Province
Hot Spring · Nature / Park
Soak your worries away at Las Piscinas de la Virgen, a hot pool complex that uses water heated naturally by nearby thermal springs. Built in 1928, the pools take their name from a local legend, which says that the Virgin Mary once dipped her foot in the hot water. You can bathe in outdoor pools of various temperatures, while you admire the large waterfall just behind the complex. However, you should prepare for crowds and potentially subpar cleanliness standards. Swimming caps are required to enter the pools; bring your own or rent one on site.
