#1 of 42 in Parks in Haut-Rhin
Parc Zoologique & Botanique de Mulhouse is a 25 hectare (62 acre) public zoo and botanical garden created in 1868, and restored in 1950 after sustaining heavy damage during World War II. You can view more than 1,200 animals representing 190 species, including many species of tropical birds and monkeys, and 94 rare or endangered species. Walk through the children's zoo enclosure to interact with Moroccan dwarf goats, Indian runner ducks, Brahma chickens, and potamochoerus, a relative of the pig. Next to the children's play area, you'll see rabbits, Poitou donkeys, and llamas. The botanical gardens feature 400 kinds of iris in the spring, and 100 varieties of dahlias in summer. Shrubs and trees are grown into fantastic shapes, and there's a collection of rare and endangered plants, including Catharanthus from Madagascar, the Canary Islands, and Madeira. The park also features a sensory garden for the blind, with signs in Braille, and plants chosen for their smell and feel. • It's good to walk under beautiful trees in all seasons. In the spring the tulips, then the irises etc. Apparently well-treated animals

  • Afternoon friendly at the zoo even in the heat since there was the presence of misters. We could see a lot of animals despite the heat and the zoo was very quiet! The little corner of the children is very nice since we can approach the animals within the enclosure. Big positive for the shady parking in the forest and the newest enclosures like that of polar bears. Small downside: the presence of wasps at the corner is very unpleasant and the zoo being on a hill, there is inevitably a moment when it goes up a lot ... but with that hard hard heat! The price is a bit high for what's there.

  • Very lovely zoo with lots of space. The highlight is of course the small polar bear Nanuq, who is a joy to watch with her mother. Some cages for the monkeys are rather small and old. Some exhibitions like the ones for the African pigs seem to be hidden away in the darkest corner even so they are lovely animals. However I really enjoyed my time here as the have very different animals like wolf or snow leopards. The only complaint is that no food or drinks are being sold here during the winter months. I find it rather strange, that the zoo cannot even open one shop for the visitors with some hot coffee.
  • Nice zoo but too little space for the animals like the lions...
