Built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900, Petit Palais now houses the City of Paris Museum of Fine Arts in its two large exhibition halls. The galleries each have a theme: one depicts old Paris and the other symbolizes 20th-century Paris. The ceilings of the two pavilions are ornately painted to reflect the intellectual currents of the time, and many floors were painstakingly covered with marble mosaics by the Italian artist Facchina. And several visits are necessary to appreciate each of the exhibits. Particular attention to one of the current exhibitions and until 26 January: "Vincenzo Gemito". A pure wonder and a first in France. 120 works of extraordinary interest. Everything becomes pure emotion. Admission is $11 and discounted at $9.

It’s a must see while in Paris. I didn’t expect a lot from this museum after going to the big ones already. If you can only go to one museum in Paris, this is the one to visit if you like Realism art. It has some amazing pieces from several Dutch artist.
An amazing building with great architecture. The collections contain some beautiful paintings and statues even if you're not that into art like me. For free it's definitely worth a visit - there are so few free museums open in Paris currently making it a city that wants to take your money left, right and centre. Well done for having a beautiful museum for free, hopefully Paris can follow in London's footsteps and offer most of its museums for free.
