We have indeed hesitated for a long time because we have not found all this information. We decided on Mount Abang and we don't regret it. - attendance: if you put high enough (like me) the criterion "tourist attendance", do not hesitate to make Abang. We didn't meet anyone on the ascent. Upstairs, we met a dozen Indonesians, half had decided to camp there, the other one came after us. So we felt calm and a little lonely. During the night ascent, you could see all the lights of the people who were riding Batur in front of you. We were very happy to be in the quiet of the night ... - landscape: to be honest I did not do the Batur. But I can guarantee you that the view at the top of Abang is definitely worth it. When the sky allows, we can see from afar Mount Rijani (Lombok), which we can not see from the Batur, too low. But also the Ijen and Merapi (Java). Not sure we can see them from Batur either. And great view... on the Batur :-) not to mention the Batukaru of course. and very nice view of the Agung, very close. I think the fact of being at 2152m (and therefore higher than Batur) adds a real interest. - difficulty: that's why we can't find the 300 tourists of the Batur on the Abang... The climb takes longer so you have to get up even earlier. From Ubud, the pick up was at 1am... we only had 2 hours of sleep. A little hard. The path was very wet, apparently a little more than usual but this path (unique) is permanently in a cloud. When you walk through this one, you get the impression that it is raining... the slush caused is difficult to manage, we slide a lot, fortunately our guide could help us with a rope on the most delicate passages. In any case, it added exhaustion and some annoying moments, but when you get to the top, you are very proud :-) - guide: we went through Bali Sunrise Trekking and Tours. They're the only ones who offer Abang. They were very good. Punctual, reassuring. The guide was Putu: very helpful, gentle, and lots of comments about volcanoes, religious traditions associated with the place, and always happy to serve (coffee, fruit, rope, photos). We highly recommend. - driver: we had Kadek Yogah. Very smiling, likes to chat with customers, gives information about Bali. It has a very safe ride (we are not people who are particularly afraid the doubling of vehicles are not the same as in the West. With Kadek, it was reassuring!). So we gave him a little tour around Ubud the next day, it was very good. -various: in short, it takes a little more effort than Batur but if you like mountain tourism or long walks, there is no problem. Climb the Abang, without hesitation. The reward is appreciable, there are so few people that it does not spoil the spectacle of the impressive sight. Take good shoes, however, with real cleats on the soles. And also: enough to cover yourself at the top (see a spare t-shirt because you are soaked in sweat when you get up in the cold) and protect yourself from moisture. Good trek! Emmanuel

If you visit Bangli and you like adventure,i recommend you to go to Abang mountain tracking. In there you can see mount Batur,Rinjani,Agung, and see Batur lake. And you can bring the camera to take a picture, selfie and have photo with the another people. In that place you should trackking until 3 hours because the track is so long and you must prepare yourself to get many challenge to go up the mountain and to go down off the mountain .You should have water ,food, and you should have portable stove .You should have that to survive in the Abang Mountain .You should pay 30.000RP and you should prepare some jackets because in there is very cold. You should bring the lamp to shine your path at the night, and you should bring tent,to camp in the up of the mountain .That's all you should have to go to the Abang Mountain.I hope you will enjoy it.
We went here as we were trying to avoid the mafia on mount Batur. We used the map from maps.me, and took about 3 and a half hours until the top. The trail is quite steep all the way to the top and it is quite damaged but you can easily manage if you have hiked before. The view at the top is great of mount Batur however you need to hike for the sunrise as in the afternoon the clouds come in. When we were there nobody stopped us for a ticket or guide.
