Leaning Tower of Pisa, Pisa

#1 of 205 in Things to do in Pisa
Leaning Tower of Pisa is known worldwide for its unintended tilt to one side. For a rewarding view, climb to the top. Designed to stand upright but built with a faulty foundation on unstable soil, this freestanding bell tower began to lean long before construction was finished. The tilt gradually increased until the structure was stabilized. The leaning was partially corrected by massive restoration efforts in the 20th century. Tilting precariously for centuries, the top of the tower has been displaced about 4 m (13 ft) from where it would be if the structure were perfectly vertical. Climbing the tower requires a reservation-based ticket, best purchased well in advance to avoid a wait. You can buy a same-day ticket that allows you to enter at a specific time, usually one to two hours after the purchase time. • I thought that this will be just a tourist magnet but the reality is so much more than any picture can show. Despite all the people in the view, the greenery and the buildings around make an romantic setting. It is simple to find a quiet corner and just enjoy the view. Once there visit the cathedral and give the walls a try. Views from the walls give one a chance to see the whole town from a different perspective. Entire wall make up an over 2km walk, but it is flat and if my 8 year old made it, it cannot be that hard.
  • Great place to come and visit in Italy. You can pose a lot in this place by seeing other people around you. There are some trending pose that are popular in the Internet. The souvenirs in here are very cheap but you should buy them in the place far from the Pisa tower, 1€ instead of 2€. Keep in mind that. There is a Subway nearby so you can eat at lunchtime. Highly recommend when you come in Italy
