Founded by a painter and developed by a fashion designer, Jardin Majorelle is a 4.8 hectare (12 acre) site in which nature and art intertwine. A striking blue villa sits at the heart of the botanical garden, filled with numerous water features and over 300 plant species from around the world. Developed over a period of 40 years by the painter Jacques Majorelle, and bought in 1980 by designer Yves Saint-Laurent, the garden includes a museum of Islamic art. Jardin Majorelle reviews
Open during COVID-19, and also you can eat in restaurant there ( not a take away). Ask for mint tea it’s really nice. Other food is good on museum restaurants level more »
It's a gorgeous but small space. It costs quite a bit as a tourist. We also visited the berbere museum, which is interesting. Open during Covid, which was a plus and very little traffic. Must wear..... more »
The first 15 minutes are a wonderful but there is little variety and you spend a lot of time negotiating large crowds at the few unique spots. The Berber museum was small and felt more like a private collection than any attempt at informing the visitor. It was also incredibly dark in places. It is all worth the price of admission but I was not particularly blown away either. The cafe however was refreshing though pricey. The homemade lemonade was astounding and the service was excellent.
After waiting over an hour to get in (would highly recommend getting tickets in advance next time) the garden was beautiful. However, it was so crowded and I wonder if it would be better off with time slots rather the allowing everyone in as they come as there were so many people there you just didn't have the time or peace to enjoy the place as much as you should.
