Otjitotongwe Cheetah Park, Kamanjab

#3 of 11 in Parks in Kunene Region
Meet the world's fastest land animal at Otjitotongwe Cheetah Park, a site dedicated to conserving these vulnerable wild cats in a natural habitat. Watch tame cheetahs playing with the farm's dogs--you can even pet them (at your own risk!). Then hop on a truck and drive further into the bush landscape to see wild cheetahs and their cubs feeding. A walking tour will highlight native plants like python vines and 700-million-year-old stromatolite rocks. Tourist facilities include bungalows, a camping site, a swimming pool, a restaurant, and a bar. Note that there is no main electricity supply on the farm. • We stayed one night here, the truth is that the camp site is very good although it is very basic, there are bathrooms and showers, to make fire and in some plots there is an awning and a table and stone stools. It's very quiet because it's like you're alone. We wanted to get to the camp site soon to visit the cheetahbut we were complicated and arrived in the afternoon. The owner was very friendly and told us that the next day in the morning we would stop by the farm that would let us in and touch these little animals.

  • Let's put it this way: for us the important "thing" is the cheetahs and it was great!!! When can you ever be close to three beautiful domestic cheetahs and be able to caress them as well as photograph them? Not to mention the exit in their protected park, on the pickup box to see 10/11 wild cheetahs to which the meat is thrown, that they quarrel a little, until everyone takes his piece and leaves? The owners, Tollie and Roileen, were very nice, the dinner, which was included, was great and after dinner they stopped with us and we talked a bit about the cheetahs and Africa. Overall we enjoyed it very well, apart from the synthetic sheets which are not comfortable and the lack of electricity in the bungalow, which did not allow me to dry with the hair dryer, but I had to use the towel. But to see and stay with the cheetahs, we'd be back right away!!!
