Wadi Bani Khalid, Muscat

#2 of 13 in Parks in Muscat
Dip in an emerald green pool amidst limestone cliffs fringed with vegetation at Wadi Bani Khalid, a striking landscape cut into the Al Hajar mountains. Admire waterfalls pouring over boulders, explore caves with strange light, and snap photos of the green and red rocks--the result of copper oxide and iron ore. A scenic hike will take you to natural springs, through plantations and villages. A traditional Omani village en route has all the basic tourist facilities. • In March we visited Oman, booked individual excursions, worked with us Haitham and Salah, both very nice guys. Easy to find on tourists and other sites. Haitham speaks little Russian and talks little, is a little constrained. The tour of Wadi Bani Khalid and in the desert was led by Salah, loved, well speaks Russian, told incredibly many different, interesting stories, got a lot of information about Omagh. In addition, he is a professional "racer" in the desert, more than 20 years engaged in "sports orienteering" in the desert, traveled it along and across. We recommend a trip to the desert only with him. The Mahans have such a national entertainment - the arrival on the dunes in jeeps, it is very interesting and exciting. There are torn bumpers and parts of the protection lying around. Cars often line up, disperse, reach the middle/ above/below and with shame))) roll back. And only our car easily climbed on...

  • Beautiful place x cool off during the tour but you need to know that in the most accessible wadi, women must be dressed properly,as a sign at the entrance shows. You can neither walk nor bathe in costume (x as we understand it) You have to wear T-shirt and shorts under the knee also x get into the water We foreigners but we can bathe dressed, according to our habits, a little further in an area secluded, following a path that is sincerely a bit challenging but leading to a truly deserving place. (The Omani guys are very kind and trustworthy and wanting to accompany) In this part of wadi you can bathe in costume I would recommend however the shoes Wanting before venturing into the cove x "foreigners" you can have a snack or have a drink in the restaurant located there.

  • A wonderful wadi in Oman, a must visit tourist attraction. A rare place where you can see deep mountain ranges, caves and low depth water pools in one area.
  • Wadi Bani Khalid is Nice place to spend your holiday. Bani Khalid is one of the most stunning wadis in Al Sharqiyah region and one of the most famous wadis in Oman. The wadi has a constant flow of water all year round, and pools and lakes are scattered over its area. It is surrounded by a few mountains from different directions, creating a unique and extremely beautiful natural scene.
