Trip Planner: Europe / Portugal / Northern Portugal / Porto District / Porto / Jardins do Palacio de Cristal
Roam through tended gardens and ponds with views of the Douro River, Porto, and the Arrabida Bridge, at Jardins do Palacio de Cristal. The original crystal palace building in the park was demolished in the 1950s, so come for the gardens and not for the building, which has seen better days. The park provides an ideal location for a picnic or peaceful relaxation. Watch for the colorful peacocks that roam the grounds, and for a snack, grab an ice cream from one of the kiosks on site. Jardins do Palacio de Cristal reviews
Worth the slog up the hill. Lovely laid out gardens with the odd peacock or chicken running free range in the area. Don’t miss the garden of reflections with its stunning bronze sculpture more »
Very little to see. Anything that looked interesting was shut. Plus points- good view of river and nice quite shaded place away from busy city. more »
Right now the entrance is a building site, and the Palace is being renovated. Poor signage may mean that you miss the brilliance of what is still available (as did a friend of mine), otherwise 5 stars easy. Behind the construction is a glorious garden with unmatched views across the river, and the surrounding city. Peacocks prance peacefully across the park, with Cockerels clucking cheerfully alongside. A must for all visitors, a lovely way to decompress at the start of your holiday.
Beautiful gardens - a lot larger than I'd thought when entering. Lots of space to relax, and there was a book fair happening on the Friday evening we went. Great views of the river whilst you walk around, and quite a few chickens and ducks to look at. Very quiet and peaceful.
