The heart of the city's cultural, political, and social life, the narrow streets and squares of Bratislava Old Town feature many historical landmarks, such as a medieval castle and the city's largest cathedral. Walk the promenade along the riverbank and see palaces housing foreign embassies as well as national institutions, including the government building. Nicknamed a "large village" by the locals due to its familiar atmosphere, this area is home to many shops, pubs, bars, and restaurants where you can taste traditional mulled wine or honey liquor. Look out for bizarre bronze statues, such as a man peeping from a manhole. St. Michael's gate and tower offer a nice view from a balcony. Planning Bratislava trip won't be overwhelming when you use Inspirock's itinerary maker.

  • The old town was nice and really enjoyable to walk around during winter when there was lesser crowded. Its pretty but not the prettiest town in Europe. A day trip from Vienna will be sufficient.  more »
  • The old town is small, but well kept, clean and tidy with just the right number of tourist shops ie not every other building! Some interesting buildings to see within and nice places to eat.  more »
