At Kobarid Museum learn about one of the bloodiest battles of World War I, which Ernest Hemingway vividly described in his novel "A Farewell to Arms." Unlike most of the battles, which were fought in the trenches, this one took place on hilly terrain. A very modern two-building complex houses graphic exhibits documenting the course of the fighting and the lives of soldiers. See photographs, uniforms, weapons, personal items, maps, and large landscape models. Most of the text is in English and you can also watch a 10-minute film in several languages to get the big picture. • All museum pieces are neatly displayed. Personally I don't have that much with it, but it gives a bit of history of the area again. Everything runs on volunteers. Neatly.

  • The museum is located in the center of the town Kobarid, right next to the building of the Foundation "Peace Path in the Soczy region" at the intersection of Gregorciceva and Manfredova streets. It is a museum of World War I, which presented primarily the legacy of the front of the Isonzo, or the frontline along the banks of the Soczy River. Museum, e.g. It details the 12th Battle of the Isonzo Front, also known as the "Miracle of Kobarid", in which the German army struck the hit gas and interrupted the Italian positions. The museum's collections are located in twelve halls on two floors and present life both on the battlefield and in the backcountry. The museum is open in July and August daily from 9.00 to 20.00, from April to June and in September every day from 9.00 to 18.00 and from October to March every day from 10.00 to 17.00. Entrance ticket for adults costs 7 euros.

  • It's a historical and very informative museum. It gives a good and impressive overview of the Great War and the impact it had on this area. Don't miss it if you are interested in the WWI, you'll see how difficult was to be in this area during the conflict. Must not miss this place!
  • Full of history of the great war, it's easy to get a clearer picture of the events and tragedies as they happened. Displays are translated into multiple languages so it's easy to follow. Very picturesque drive to Kobarid from Cividale in Italy.
