Grande Mosquee stands as a Muslim religious site that showcases a simple building with two minarets and several modest decorations. For decades, the mosque has welcomed worshipers and tourists with its peaceful atmosphere as a place to meditate. If you climb the minaret with the gilded top, you'll have a panoramic view of the city. Plan my day in Lome using traveler tips and tourist information provided by Inspirock.

It insists on two floors and both are full of floor mats that are used to pray. It is very busy and at 11 a.m. there are many there praying for their God. Generally the ground floor is more reserved for prayer while upstairs many people even with children are relaxing to rest. Although it is not our religion we have deep respect for the creed of so many people who every day head to the white mosque as a destination for their prayers.

Today being Friday, the mosque was particularly crowded, although here the main prayer is at 11 am and I arrived about three hours later. The mosque is all white with two square minarets flanking the façade. Nice outside area of ablutions. All the doors were opened to give vent to your environment. Many nice small rugs were scattered all over the floor. The mosque is built on two floors. On the ground floor there were men who prayed, each on their own. The upper floor is slightly more convivial, with children, groups of friends talking and men sleeping. Even the shadow of women; probably entering the building at different times. A little boy runs inside the mosque with a wooden box for deals.
