Visit Fort King George and learn about the history of the island. Built by the British towards the end of the 18th century, the fort has been carefully restored; today, a number of signs reveal the history of the buildings and their various uses. Cannons stand in situ around the neatly maintained grounds, and the old prison has a particularly striking atmosphere. Stop by the well-curated museum to see interesting artifacts from indigenous cultures, 19th-century watercolors of the island, and maps from the 1600s. Take a look at our Scarborough trip planning site to schedule your visit to Fort King George and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

Very good museum experience. I just wish that there is always water in the taps of the bathroom. I'm not saying that isn't at other times, just my bad luck I guess. I also wished there was someone there to offer us a tour of the museum. There was someone to whom we had to pay a fee of $20 per adult, but no tour guide. Maybe I should have asked. Either way, it's a good place for both adults and children.
Nice picturesque location with some gorgeous views of Tobago, along with some stunning sunsets if you hang out long enough. The hills driving up to the fort are rather steep but worth the views on a cloudless day. Some locals use the hill as aerobic workout running up and down, so man the breaks and keep an eye out for pedestrians. Overall a great temporary break and chance for a rare glimpse of the island.
