Tirana

Tirana, the largest city in Albania, represents one a lively and fast-paced metropolis.
Explore hidden gems such as Food Tours and House of Leaves. Venture out of the city with trips to Kruje (Ethnographic Museum of Kruja & Kruja Castle). There's still lots to do: get engrossed in the history at Muzeu Historik Kombetar, examine the collection at Bektashi World Center, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Et`hem Bey Mosque, and brush up on your military savvy at Bunk'Art 1.

Istanbul, Turkey to Tirana is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. You'll gain 2 hours traveling from Istanbul to Tirana due to the time zone difference. Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from Istanbul in August: highs in Tirana hover around 39°C, while lows dip to 21°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 16th (Sun) early enough to go by car to Shkoder.

Its geographic location has made Shkoder, one of Europe's oldest cities, an important cultural and economic center of the Balkans over the years.
Kick off your visit on the 17th (Mon): take in the views from Mesi Bridge, then get a taste of the local shopping with Venice Art Mask Factory, then step into the grandiose world of Rozafa Castle, and finally steep yourself in history at Former Palace of King Nikola I. On the 18th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take an in-depth tour of Site of Witness and Memory, see the interesting displays at Marubi National Museum of Photography, and then take in the local highlights with Walking tours.

Town of a Thousand Windows

A rare example of well-preserved Ottoman style, Berat is a World Heritage Site.
On the 19th (Wed), take in the spiritual surroundings of Holy Trinity Church, don't miss a visit to Bulevardi Republika, then don't miss a visit to Quarter Of Gorica, then examine the collection at National Ethnographic Museum Berat, and finally do a tasting at Cobo Winery. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 20th (Thu): admire the striking features of Berat Castle, examine the collection at National Iconographic Museum Onufri, and then learn about winemaking at Nurellari Winery and Guest House.

Drive from Shkoder to Berat in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and car; or do a combination of bus and car. Traveling from Shkoder in August, Berat is a bit cooler at night with lows of 21°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Thu) to allow enough time to drive to Saranda.

Saranda

A popular summer destination for its inexpensive accommodation and stony Mediterranean beaches, Saranda has become a favorite of both Albanian and foreign travelers.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Zekate House and Saranda Embankment. Get out of town with these interesting Saranda side-trips: Gjirokaster (in Gjirokaster) and Blue Eye (in Vlore). There's still lots to do: explore the striking landscape at Butrint National Park, relax and rejuvenate at some of the top local wellness centers, and explore the historical opulence of Lekuresi Castle.
