An island town, capital of the landlocked region of Peten, attractive Flores features pleasant architecture that complements the shimmering appearance of the surrounding lake.
Get in touch with nature at Cultural Triangle Yaxha-Nakum-Naranjo National Park and Actún Can. Get some historical perspective at Sitio Arqueologico Tayazal and Parque arqueologico uaxactun. Step out of Flores to go to El Remate and see Cerro Biotope Cahui, which is approximately 32 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: look for all kinds of wild species at Estacion Biologica Las Guacamayas, make a trip to Jorge's Rope Swing, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Catedral de Flores.

On the 20th (Mon), take in the natural beauty of Hot Springs and then steep yourself in history at Archaeological Park and Ruins of Quirigua. On the 21st (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: admire the sheer force of Cascada de Agua Caliente and then take in the dramatic scenery at Hot waterfall.

Located at the center of one of the country's primary coffee growing areas, the affluent city of Coban offerss a scattered few cultural attractions, a relaxed and welcoming vibe, and proximity to a wealth of natural highlights.
On the 22nd (Wed), look for all kinds of wild species at Biotopo del Quetzal and then look for all kinds of wild species at Orquigonia. Keep things going the next day: take in the dramatic natural features at Grottes de la Candelaria and then explore the striking landscape at Grutas del Rey Marcos.

San Marcos La Laguna is a village on the western shore of Lago Atitlán in the Sololá Department of Guatemala. On the 24th (Fri), take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Indian Nose, then look for gifts at Lema Association, then identify plant and animal life at Cerro Tzankujil Nature Reserve, and finally view the masterpieces at Galeria Imox.

You can drive from Coban to San Marcos La Laguna in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of shuttle and ferry. While traveling from Coban, expect somewhat warmer days and slightly colder nights in San Marcos La Laguna, ranging from highs of 28°C to lows of 6°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 25th (Sat) to allow time to travel back home.
