Maras is a town in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, 40 kilometers north of Cuzco, in the Cuzco Region of Peru. Kick off your visit on the 7th (Fri): explore the ancient world of Moray and then explore the striking landscape at Salinas de Maras.

Do a combination of train and taxi from Machu Picchu to Maras in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. In May in Maras, expect temperatures between 24°C during the day and 4°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 7th (Fri) so you can travel to Puno.

Hugging the western tip of Lake Titicaca, Puno serves as a melting pot of indigenous and imported cultures, and makes a great base for explorations around the region.
On the 8th (Sat), head off the coast to Uros Floating Islands, get great views at Mirador Ing. Eduardo Sanchez, and then step off the mainland to explore Taquile Island. Here are some ideas for day two: explore the activities along Lake Titicaca, then stroll around Parque Pino, and then delve into the distant past at Sillustani.

You can do a combination of flight and bus from Maras to Puno in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or drive. Expect little chillier evenings in Puno when traveling from Maras in May, with lows around -1°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Sun) so you can go by car to Arequipa.

Lima is known for parks, historic sites, museums, shopping, and nightlife. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: get engrossed in the history at Museo Larco, take a leisurely stroll along Miraflores Boardwalk, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco, and admire the local landmark of Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor).
