After decades of conflict, Luanda experienced a massive economic boom at the beginning of the 21st century, making it one of the most developed cities in Africa and a magnet for tourists.

Detroit, USA to Luanda is an approximately 25-hour flight. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to West Africa Standard Time (WAT), which is usually a 6 hour difference. In March, Luanda is much warmer than Detroit - with highs of 88°F and lows of 77°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel to Lubango.

Lubango is the capital city of the Angolan province of Huíla. Kick off your visit on the 10th (Wed): take in the dramatic natural features at Tundavala. Keep things going the next day: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Christ the King Statue and then get outside with Serra da Leba.

You can fly from Luanda to Lubango in 3.5 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or drive. Cap off your sightseeing on the 11th (Thu) early enough to travel to Muxima.

Muxima is a town and commune in the municipality of Quiçama, Luanda Province, Angola. Spend the 12th (Fri) exploring nature at Parque Nacional da Quiçama. There's more to do: witness the site of a historic battle at Fortress of Muxima and contemplate the waterfront views at Kwanza River.
