Cuba's capital and major commercial center, Havana manages to be very old and very modern at the same time.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Museum of the Revolution (Museo de la Revolucion) and Wifredo Lam Center. Popular historic sites such as El Malecon and Revolution Plaza are in your itinerary. There's lots more to do: explore the world behind art at Museu Nacional de Belas Artes de Cuba, contemplate the long history of El Morro, make a trip to Plaza de la Catedral, and get to know the fascinating history of Old Havana.

Los Angeles, USA to Havana is an approximately 10-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight. The time zone changes from Pacific Standard Time (PST) to Cuba Standard Time (CST), which is usually a 3 hour difference. Traveling from Los Angeles in May, things will get a bit warmer in Havana: highs are around 87°F and lows about 69°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Thu) to allow time to drive to Varadero.

One of the largest resort towns in the Caribbean, Varadero boasts a 20 km (12 mi) long stretch of sand, lined with hotels and all-inclusive resorts.
On the 7th (Fri), see the interesting displays at Pharmaceutical Museum, then take in the exciting artwork at Lolo Galeria-Taller, then Head underground at Saturno Cave, and finally see the interesting displays at House of Rum. On the 8th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: walk around Josone Park, enjoy the sand and surf at Varadero Beach, then admire the masterpieces at Mi Casa Beatles, and finally meet the residents at Delfinario.

You can drive from Havana to Varadero in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a shuttle; or do a combination of train and taxi. Expect a daytime high around 88°F in June, and nighttime lows around 71°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Sat) so you can drive to Trinidad.
