Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Get a sense of the local culture at Piazza San Marco and Doge's Palace. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Basilica di San Marco and Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. Venture out of the city with trips to Padua (Scrovegni Chapel & Basilica di Sant’Antonio). Step off the beaten path and head to Duomo di Orvieto and Cascata delle Marmore.
