Situated at the meeting point of the White and Blue Niles, the sprawling capital Khartoum captivates with its welcoming atmosphere, chaotic marketplaces, and extravagant skyline punctuated with glass towers.
Sudan National Museum and Sudan Art Diwan are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Appreciate the collections at Mojo Gallery and Khalifa House Museum. Change things up with a short trip to Tomb of Muhammad Ahmad (Madhi) in Omdurman (about 34 minutes away). There's still lots to do: browse the different shops at Afra Mall, head off the coast to Tuti Island, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Al Kabir Mosque, and don't miss a visit to Nile Street.
