Step off the beaten path and head to Old Town and Downtown Fethiye. Patara Antik Kenti and Ancient Rock Tombes are good opportunities to explore the local culture. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Fethiye: Kalkan (Xanthos Antik Kenti & Scuba & Snorkeling) and Patara Amphitheatre (in Patara). There's lots more to do: admire the sheer force of Gizlikent Selalesi, explore the ancient world of Pinara Antique City, slough off your stress at Turkish baths, and examine the collection at Fethiye Museum (Muzesi).

Do a combination of flight and shuttle from Istanbul to Fethiye in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of shuttle and flight; or drive. While traveling from Istanbul, expect a bit warmer days and little chillier nights in Fethiye, ranging from highs of 34°C to lows of 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Fri) to allow time to drive to Antalya.

You can drive from Fethiye to Antalya in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In September in Antalya, expect temperatures between 36°C during the day and 24°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 23rd (Mon) to allow enough time to travel to Goreme.

On the 24th (Tue), explore the ancient world of Özkonak Underground City, stop by Sultans Ceramic, then examine the collection at Guray Museum, then explore the galleries of Zelve Open Air Museum, and finally soar above the sights with Royal Balloon.
