Pearl of the Danube

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Get out of town with these interesting Budapest side-trips: Geszler Family Winery (in Mor) and Szekesfehervar (Szekesfehervar - Our Lady - John of Nepomuk Parish Church & Bory Castle). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika), make a trip to Miklos Ybl Square, appreciate the history behind Girl With Her Dog Statue, and take in the local highlights with Walking tours.

To see other places to visit, reviews, more things to do, and other tourist information, refer to the Budapest trip planner.

If you are flying in from Germany, the closest major aiport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. In May, daily temperatures in Budapest can reach 25°C, while at night they dip to 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Sat) so you can travel back home.
