You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Explore Budapest's surroundings by going to Nagyvillam Ski Slope (in Visegrad), Ram Szakadek (in Domos) and Eger (MagicTower, Lyceum, &more). There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Fisherman's Bastion, test the waters at a local thermal spa, admire the striking features of Dohány Street Synagogue, and get a sense of history and politics at Hungarian Parliament Building.

The booming city of Bucharest is a sophisticated metropolis with a high contrast of old- and new-world architecture.
