A modern metropolis of glassy skyscrapers, waterside boulevards, and lush residential neighborhoods, Perth sits on the edge of the Swan Coastal Plain.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Perth: Fremantle (Little Creatures, Fremantle Prison, &more), St Paul's Anglican Church (in Jarrahdale) and Yanchep National Park (in Yanchep). Dedicate the 16th (Sat) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Venture out of the city with trips to Territory Wildlife Park (in Berry Springs), Litchfield National Park (Magnetic Termite Mounds, Wangi Falls, &more) and Nina's Ark Wildlife Sanctuary (in Batchelor). Spend the 17th (Sun) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. And it doesn't end there: kick back and relax at Mindil Beach, learn about all things military at Darwin Aviation Museum, make a splash at Wave Lagoon, and stroll through Crocosaurus Cove.
