A city of towering skyscrapers, sandy beaches, and tree-lined streets, Gold Coast has an unpretentious air complemented by a citywide focus on sports and the arts.
Your list of things to see and do now includes Celebrate by Sail, Snapper Rocks, Kirra Beach, and other attractions. Get out of town with these interesting Gold Coast side-trips: Cape Byron Lighthouse (in Byron Bay), Broken Head Nature Reserve (in Broken Head) and Watersports Guru (in Kingscliff). Getting from Gold Coast to Katoomba by combination of flight and train takes about 5.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a train. Traveling from Gold Coast in January, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Katoomba, with lows of 20°C. On the 19th (Sun), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Hobart.
