Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Popular historic sites such as Huaca Pucllana and Museo Convento San Francisco y Catacumbas are in your itinerary. Step out of the city life by going to Balneario Embajadores and Nature & Wildlife Tours. Get out of town with these interesting Lima side-trips: Rio Lunahuana (in Lunahuana), Toboganes de Songos (in San Jeronimo de Surco) and Playa Santa Maria del Mar (in Santa Maria Del Mar). Spend the 4th (Sat) exploring nature at Reserva Nacional Lomas de Lachay. Next up on the itinerary: take a stroll through Miraflores, stop by San Isidro, admire the local landmark of Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor), and take an in-depth tour of Museo Larco.

Maras is a town in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, 40 kilometers north of Cuzco, in the Cuzco Region of Peru. Start off your visit on the 17th (Fri): pause for some serene contemplation at Iglesia Colonial de Chinchero, delve into the distant past at Moray, and then stroll through Salinas de Maras.
