Pearl of the Danube

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Tue): get a sense of history and politics at Hungarian Parliament Building, contemplate the long history of Heroes' Square, then see the interesting displays at House of Terror Museum, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika), and finally take in the views from Szechenyi Lanchid. Here are some ideas for day two: test the waters at a local thermal spa, shop like a local with Hungarian National Gallery (Magyar Nemzeti Galeria), then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Matthias Church, and finally steep yourself in history at Fisherman's Bastion.
