Pearl of the Danube

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Head to Hungarian National Gallery (Magyar Nemzeti Galeria) and Tihanyi Levendula Manufakturafor plenty of shopping. Get a sense of the local culture at Fisherman's Bastion and St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika). Explore Budapest's surroundings by going to Tihany (Babamuzeum & Via Dolorosa) and Mor (Geszler Family Winery & Csabi Miklos' Cellar). There's still lots to do: boost your wellbeing at a local thermal spa, steep yourself in history at Matthias Church, make a trip to Vaci Street, and examine the collection at House of Terror Museum.

In January, daily temperatures in Budapest can reach 3°C, while at night they dip to -4°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 30th (Wed) so you can travel back home.
