Pearl of the Danube

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Archaeological Park and Aeropark Budapest will appeal to museum buffs. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Fisherman's Bastion and St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika). Venture out of the city with trips to Wesselenyi Beach Balatonalmadi (in Balatonalmadi), Nadasdy - Kastely (in Nadasdladany) and Beach (in Tiszakecske). And it doesn't end there: steep yourself in history at Matthias Church, see the interesting displays at Police Museum, appreciate the history behind Shoes on the Danube Bank, and admire the striking features of Dohány Street Synagogue.
