Located right in the center of Australia, the national park boasts perhaps the country's most iconic natural symbol and a sacred place for the region's indigenous people--as well as Kata Tjuta, a collection of 36 red rocks forming an equally distinctive sight.

The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
On the 9th (Sun), make a short side trip with Offroad Dreaming, enjoy the sand and surf at Mindil Beach, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at St Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Cathedral, and finally identify plant and animal life at Crocosaurus Cove.

You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Rio Tinto Naturescape Kings Park and Scitech. Venture out of the city with trips to Perth Observatory (in Bickley), Mundaring (Mundaring Weir & Lake Leschenaultia) and Mandurah (Mandurah War Memorial, Dolphin Quay, &more). Founded as a military outpost in 1826, Albany is the oldest town in Western Australia, just barely gaining this title by being settled two years earlier than Fremantle and Perth.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Elephant Rocks and Middleton Beach. Get out of town with these interesting Albany side-trips: Denmark (Duckett's Mill Winery and Denmark Farmhouse Cheese & Greens Pool). There's lots more to do: explore the activities along King George Sound, explore the striking landscape at The Gap and Natural Bridge, stroll through Bald Head Walk Trail, and grab your bike and head to Ellen Cove Boardwalk.
