Unvanquished City

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Praia da Costa Nova and Matosinhos Beach. You'll explore and learn at Museu Nacional de Machado de Castro and Extensao do Douro do Museu da Cidade. Explore Porto's surroundings by going to Reserva Natural das Dunas de Sao Jacinto (in Sao Jacinto), Guimaraes (Museu da Cultura Castreja, Centro Historico de Guimaraes, &more) and Museu do Brincar (in Vagos). There's still lots to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Igreja do Carmo, steep yourself in history at Igreja da Ordem Terceira de São Francisco, see exotic creatures in open habitats at Oporto Buggy Adventure, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral).
