Venice of the North

Known as one of the greatest small cities in the world, Amsterdam charms visitors with its cool and cozy atmosphere.
For shopping fun, head to Markthal or De 9 Straatjes. Get outdoors at The Amstel and Emperor's Canal (Keizersgracht). Step out of Amsterdam to go to Den Bosch and see St. John's Cathedral, which is approximately 1h 10 min away. There's lots more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Herengracht, get a taste of local nightlife at Brouwerij 't IJ, take in the architecture and atmosphere at De Duif, and visit The Jordaan.

Paris, France to Amsterdam is an approximately 4.5-hour train ride. You can also fly; or drive. In December in Amsterdam, expect temperatures between 9°C during the day and 3°C at night. On the 4th (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Bruges.

The medieval town of Bruges centers around a canal, and the architecture of its historical district has made it a World Heritage Site.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Tue): enjoy the sand and surf at Beach De Haan. On the 5th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Nicholas' Cathedral, then take an in-depth tour of Gravensteen, and then don't miss a visit to Ghent City Center.
