Complete with 1,325 monuments, restored fortifications, and 20 km (12.5 mi) of trails, Texas Monument immerses you in the 1863 Battle of Vicksburg. The site of one of the American Civil War's most critical campaigns, Vicksburg represented a vital Confederate river port, and its siege and subsequent capture by the North on July 4, 1863, effectively cut the South in two. You'll find numerous reconstructed earthworks and trenches, along with their accompanying artillery batteries, spread out along the Mississippi River. Discover the different memorials to specific states and units throughout the area; 26 km (16 mi) of roads allow you to visit them all by car. Don't miss the restored USS Cairo, a U.S. gunboat sunk and later raised for display. For more information, stop by the visitor center to see artifacts and displays about the battle. Take the guesswork out of planning a Vicksburg vacation by using our trip itinerary maker.

Get here early and drive the 16 mile park stopping at every sculpture, statues, beautiful building, and exhibit along the way. Walking amongst the resurrected Cairo was truly an amazing experience. For a place that was home to such a bloody battle to have such a pleasant feel is reflective of the great pride the people of Mississippi have put into this historic park. Thank you to everyone who shared information about the battle site and exhibits and to the National Park Service for giving Americans and visitors from around the world this beautiful landmark.
Very interesting site. Supposed to be very accurate with the points of interest during the driving tour. We really enjoyed it. Learned a lot about the war. Property was very well kept up. Would recommend everyone to visit.
