Take in the past glory of the Timurid empire at Amir Timur Museum, a modern drum-shaped building whose turquoise dome dominates Tashkent's central square. Documenting the history and heritage of the 200-year-old empire, which stretched from the Mediterranean to India and China, the three-story museum features a collection of ornate men's and women's robes, astronomical and musical instruments, coins, and ceramics. Check out imperial robes, scaled models of Samarkand's historic landmarks, and illuminated books. The center of the main hall features a copy of Osman's Qur'an and a gallery displays Timur portraits by contemporary artists. Amir Timur Museum Reviews
It’s quite hard to categorise this place. I don’t know whether to call it a museum or a propaganda palace. Its aim is to showcase the two centuries beginning in the late 1300s when a guy called Temur ... more »

The building is interesting and the lobby with the frescoes on the wall and the mosaic ceiling is impressive. After that there is nothing very interesting: copies of objects that are found in museums around the world and many paintings (often pretty and well done), but this is not a highlight of the city. Let's say if you have time why not do it.
We've been here before making a trip to Samarkand where Amir Temur started his empire. So we had a great base before seeing all the places in Samarkand in person which are connected to Amir Temur and his empire. There's always a "tourist fee" you have to pay on top, but over all it's really worth it and not expensive.
I visited this place a year ago. Its Its kept very nicely & should been seen by all visitors. The guide was also very knowledgeable. Overall an excellent experience.
