Castillo San Carlos de Borromeo, Margarita Island

The restored remains of Castillo San Carlos de Borromeo, a colonial-era fortress, now house an eclectic art/history museum. Built in the 17th century to protect Spanish colonists from Dutch pirates, the fort was ransacked several times throughout history. Restored in the 1960s, the fortress now features several exhibit areas, housing paintings depicting the War of Independence, antique weapons, and the replica of Santa Maria, one of the boats belonging to Christopher Columbus. • A castle on the side of the city and overlooking the side of the bay. Very nice with access to a hanging door. With guide who tells the story in a picturesque way. It has its own dungeon, a semi-gloomy photo comes out of luxury
