Gantheaume Point
Gantheaume Point is one of a few places in the entire world where you can see dinosaur footprints dated to the Early Cretaceous period (approximately 130 million years old). These ancient tracks can only be seen during very low tide, but there are also plant fossils preserved extensively in the area's sandstone deposits and in coastal exposures farther north. The site features red cliffs and turquoise blue water, attracting visitors from around the world. Time your visit to the area for a low tide to see the dinosaur tracks, or stop by at any other time to enjoy the otherworldly landscape (often compared to that of Mars). The contrast of the red sand against the blue water makes for stunning photographs. The car hire people told us about this beach and supplied us with 3 chairs and an esky so we could go and spend an evening down there. Lots of 4 wheel drives etc down there with lots of very well...

Really is a beautiful here with lots of spectacular rock formations and cliffs but we know why 90% of people are here, the dinosaur footprints. We were down there early in the morning during low tide looking for them as were lots of others. Spent hrs looking for them even with a bit of a map where there are but still struggled. It would be nice if they could somehow have some kind of markers pointing them out. We did find some but could not find the others though it was a bit fun searching.

Rocky outcrop, jutting into the sea. Great spot for photos of gantheume and cable Beach's. Shaded area with bench seats and tables and the area's history, plus drop toilets.
