Create an itinerary including Vlamingh Head Lighthouse
Watch the sun rise at Vlamingh Head Lighthouse--and then come back at dusk to watch it set. The lighthouse, built in 1912, stands as one of only a few places on the Australian coast where you can witness sunrise and sunset (not at the same time, of course). Even if you arrive at midday, you'll still have sweeping views of the Indian Ocean in three directions. If you visit between August and November, bring your binoculars for the chance to see migrating whales. If you arrive for sunset during any month, you'll likely see others taking in the spectacle with glasses of wine in their hands. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Exmouth holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Vlamingh Head Lighthouse and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Amazing spot for sunset. Pro tip: you'll get the best colours about 30 min past sunset, don't leave too early. Also, during whale season you'll see the golden sprays above the calm water as the sun goes down, it's quite a show. This a great spot for star gazing - nice to get a take away pizza and have your dinner here. Bring repellent - the only place in town we experienced mosquitos.
  • Well worth a stop. Great views over the entire Point. Good little information boards. I got sad looking at the derelict caravan park.. the town is over flowing and this is just wasting away so someone can plan a resort .. even opened for off grid overflow would be good ..a tragic waste of a beautiful place to camp.
