Create an itinerary including Bitter Springs
Surrounded by shady tall palms, Bitter Springs are pools of thermal water which have soothed tired travelers for decades. The pools are located inside the Elsey National Park, where you can bushwalk, birdwatch, canoe, swim, and fish. Drop by the pools to rest your muscles in the calm waters, which are constantly at 32 C (89.6 F). Bring your snorkeling gear to discover an underwater world of small fish and turtles, or simply glide downstream with the current to enjoy the lush surrounding vegetation and spot a variety of birds living in the trees. Facilities include public toilets, sheltered picnic areas, and plenty of parking. Take the guesswork out of planning a Mataranka vacation by using our trip itinerary maker.

  • These springs are OK. They are signposted and easy walk to get to. There are steps at both ends. You basically get in one end and let the current take you down to the other end where you get out...
