The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia
Showcasing exclusively Australian art, The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia boasts nearly 25,000 pieces by both indigenous and non-indigenous authors from the Colonial period to contemporary times. Sir Ian Potter, a businessman and philanthropist, founded the center, which occupies a landmark building on Melbourne's major cultural square. Paintings, sculptures, photographs, prints, drawings, fashion, textiles, and decorative arts are displayed across more than 20 galleries. Look for the iconic triptych "The Pioneer" by Frederick McCubbin. A modern cafe on the third floor offers views of the Yarra River. Amazing place! I spent over an hour in the Gallery and only covered half of it. I plan on returning soon when I have more time. So many awesome pieces of art here and free to enter! Definitely worth visiting. The big moon exhibit was amazing, not too sure how long it is staying as it visits different places for a set time. No-one seemed to know. It has been there for a week so far. Take your partner, patents, kids, anyone! It was the highlight of my day!

Love this place. Fabulous portraiture exhibition. Can't believe how lucky we are to see such an amazing exhibition for free. Thank you so much. Only thing...people shouldn't be allowed to bring tiny toddlers to run around yelling in this amazing venue. Not a playground. Takes away from the experience.
