Create an itinerary including Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry Conservation Park
The world’s only known evidence of a dinosaur stampede, Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry Conservation Park contains 3,300 fossilized footprints of large predators, which stalked and caused the flight of around 150 two-legged dinosaurs nearly 95 million years ago. Research conducted on the site confirmed that these footprints were most likely made over a period of several days. It is believed that a large herd of small dinosaurs gathered on the banks of a forest lake to drink, when larger, meat-eating dinosaurs approached them, triggering a panicked stampede across the muddy flats. Visit the Conservation Building, which was erected to shelter this ancient site, for a valuable lesson about a cooler world before mammals, when dinosaurs ruled the planet. • Really authentic amazing location. Footprints at the exact location they were found and in jump up country. Very hot, windy and flies but not too bad really. The exhibit was worth the long drive and the tour guide was good and the story was good.
  • Brilliant. Definitely worth the drive from Winton. Dirt road was in really good condition. Staff at the centre gave a really entertaining description. Plenty of time to enjoy the exhibit.
