In a palatial building, Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien exhibits the Habsburgs' extensive art collection, which was amassed over centuries. Designed by architect Gottfried Semper, the museum is mirrored by an identical building on the opposite side of the Ringstrasse, which houses the Naturhistorisches Museum. Discover works by artists like Vermeer and Rembrandt, as well as a large collection by Pieter Brueghel the Elder. An audio guide offers an in-depth exploration of close to 600 works in the museum, including commentary on the building itself. In addition to the masterpieces on display, the museum includes a reference library of more than 256,000 manuscripts, maps, and historical prints relating to art and cultural history. Lots to see in this dramatic setting. Some familiar treasures (Bruegel, Arcimboldo) but so much more to explore.

The museum had three themes which was a very good way to experience three different themes in a single museum. The pieces were beautiful and the museum itself was just mesmerizing. I would say it’s...

Just a lovely, lovely place to visit. So much to see. Would take several trips to see and appreciate all there is. The building itself is amazing and makes one struck with awe. Had an audio guide which was great. Would visit again just to see areas we didn't have time to see. Some items and paintings are beyond supreme. Took one back in time and space and made one feel part of something greater. Come here, but bring time and energy!

One of the best museums I’ve ever visited. The have huge collection of art and history, from renaissance paintings to ancient Egyptian & Ancient Greek monuments, scripts etc. you definitely can spend a whole afternoon here. There’s also a very nice cafe inside so you can take a small break between the exhibitions.
