Create an itinerary including Eglise Notre Dame Du Sablon
Experience the opulence of Eglise Notre Dame Du Sablon, which has long been a place of worship for the elite of Brussels and serves as a remarkable example of Brabantine Gothic architecture. The land was first consecrated when the Noble Serment of Crossbowmen, a local guild, decided to turn their exercise space into a modest chapel. However, this humble church was replaced in the 15th century, with an interior that was completed in the 17th century. The cathedral is covered in carved reliefs and ornate masonry, while the interior reflects the efforts of the wealthy families to bring the richness of daily life to the church service with gilded Baroque chapels. The fanciful wood carvings on the altar and pulpit are the work of a 19th-century artist, Auguste Schoy. After a church tour, sample some of the sweets from the surrounding chocolate shops. • A few devotees wandered around or prayed while a solo pianist was filling the air with divine tunes. The low winter midday winter solstice sun shone through the multicoloured stained glass windows. Magic happens when seemingly unconnected elements converge as if by chance and foment inspiration.
  • This church is a beautiful example of gothic architecture. It is simply awe-inspiring in the fading light of the evening. This is one of example of why I love Brussels.
