Dedicated to studying and displaying the work of Rene Magritte, Magritte Museum combines education with exhibits. The collection is one of the largest and most diverse of Magritte's work and took many years, and many donations, to collect. Magritte's paintings, drawings, posters, and advertising work fill the walls with surreal images. These artworks are arranged by period on three floors spanning from 1898 to 1967 and Magritte's later "Enchanted Domain" periods. Your tour ends in a cinema that screens both films inspired by Magritte's work and films he enjoyed. Book tickets online or purchase them when you arrive, but be aware that with a reserved ticket you use the Place Royale entrance, whereas if you are purchasing a ticket, enter from the Rue de la Régence. Consider purchasing a combination ticket that includes all the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. A very good collection of Magritte's lesser known or even unknown works. You won't find his most famed pieces here, that's not at all what this museum is about. But you will find plenty of his more intimate pieces and gather some wonderful insights into the life, times and works of this most remarkable artist. Maybe this museum is not for the masterpiece glory hunters, but this place is definitely worth a visit if you are in Brussels and have a soft spot for Rene.

Loved this museum so so much. I found the layout and storytelling throughout was very creative. I really got to understand René Magritte and his artwork. I entered hardly knowing Magritte and walked away a fan!
