Discover one of the largest dinosaur halls in the world at Museum of Natural Sciences, an attraction that is part museum and part research center. Don't miss the 30 completely assembled Iguanodon skeletons that seem to be stalking the dinosaur hall. These fierce beasts were discovered in the 19th century not far from the museum. A Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton is another favorite that sends chills up your spine, but the nearby herbivores, such as the Stegosaurus, don't seem too rattled. The permanent exhibits continue the local theme with dinosaur discoveries, evolution, insects, shells, minerals, and animal life in the city. Temporary exhibits also move through the museum and many of these are combined with educational programs. The museum is included in the Brussels City Card, which gives you free access to 30 city museums. However, a single ticket is also very affordable. This was a really nice discovery! The museum is gigantic, with so many topics covered, completed with an interactive experience all along: great for kids and adults alike. It would have been perfect if the visit was guided with an audio portable media, giving the main timeline and the highlights and opening it up for the details and interactive experience to choose from: today it's hard to choose, there is so much and you do not know where to start. I even missed some key timeliness explanations by skipping randomly to get through it. This museum easily deserves 2-3 visits only for the permanent exhibitions. So a subscription would be a good investment :)
Nice museum, the in & outdoor architecture are really aiding the museums look and feel. Due to being an older building and the scale of the museum itself it is challenging to follow the correct walking path. Somehow it feels that we've missed parts due to the complexity and arrangement of routes, stairs... to complement it has a nice modern touch on how things are displayed and documented. Plenty of interactivity between information and visitor. Interesting for young and old!
