The Hotel de ville is the Town Hall of Mons, and the most important building of the Grand Place. Built in the 15th century, the town hall it dominates the Grand Place public square. The building itself looks like it could do with a clean, but otherwise it’s a nice example of Late and Northern European Gothic architecture. Especially noteworthy are the foliage decorations and highly regular and symmetric mullions on the windows of the front facade. The keystones of the ribbed vaults of the interiors are unusual, ending in scenes from everyday life. Definitely worth visiting this building when in Mons.
