Ribe Vikinge Center, Esbjerg

Step back to an age of exploration, discovery, and trade at Ribe Vikinge Center. As you walk through the grounds of this historical site, you will learn about the basics of Viking life, including how they harvested, shopped, cooked, and played. Start at the marketplace from 710 CE where merchants from all over Denmark come to sell leather, bones, glass, and jewelry. In Ribe town, which represents life in 825 CE, you can meet inhabitants and craftsmen, such as the shoemaker and carpenter. Don't miss the Manor farm from 980 CE, where you will learn about the farming techniques and daily chores of Vikings life. You may be lucky enough to spot a Viking warrior or one on horseback riding through the town. You may also enjoy archery lessons and coin minting.
